Brief information

WerkTalent was built as the new home arena of ADO Den Haag, but its significance extends beyond club football. The stadium was completed in 2007, replacing Zuiderpark: the former arena held fewer spectators, while the new one had 15,000 seats. So the venue can be seen as the club’s step toward a larger and more controlled ground.

Its multifunctionality is not just a formal label. The stadium is used mainly for football and field hockey, and in 2014 it became the main venue for the men’s and women’s Field Hockey World Cups. This fact changes how one sees the pitch: it is connected not only with ADO matches, but also with an international-level tournament in another sport.

What to notice first

The source text barely describes the stadium’s form, materials, or decoration, so there are few reliable details to inspect. It makes sense to keep three things in focus: the 15,000-spectator bowl, the surveillance systems, and traces of commercial renaming. Capacity matters in comparison with the old Zuiderpark: the new arena was larger, and this explains the very replacement of the home stadium.

The control setup is worth noting separately. At the opening, people spoke of a large number of cameras: the system recorded several images of each spectator, while “Happy Crowd Control” captured people as they entered. This is a rare detail that makes the stadium readable not only as a sports facility, but also as a space of surveillance. The names are part of this logic too: “Den Haag,” then the sponsor names Kyocera, Cars Jeans, and Bingoal show how the arena changed its public signboard along with its contracts.
