Inside the Mall of the Emirates shopping complex is a ski resort where snow lies year-round. Ski Dubai became the first indoor complex of this kind in the Middle East: this matters not as a record for its own sake, but as an explanation of the spectacle itself. The ski slope here does not use natural terrain, but is entirely assembled inside a building and maintained by a technical system.

An area of about 22,500 m² and a height of 85 meters turn it not into a separate attraction, but into a large artificial mountain space. The temperature is kept between 1 and 6 degrees below zero, so the main contrast is visible in the very idea of the place: a winter environment operates as part of a shopping center, not as a season outdoors.

What to Notice Right Away

It makes sense to compare the overall height of the complex with the 60-meter lift height: this difference shows that what has been created inside is not just a hall with snow, but a vertical layout with a top point and a descent. Five slopes of varying steepness and difficulty show that the space is designed for several movement scenarios, not for a single decorative run.

A 90-meter track for snowboarders and lifts that return skiers and snowboarders to the top of the hill stand out separately. Around the main slope there is an area of about 3,000 m² with sledding tracks, climbing ledges, an ice cave, and a cinema. These elements help explain the structure of Ski Dubai: the cold here is needed not only for skiing, but for a whole set of entertainments arranged around an artificial slope.
